Takamatsu Toshitsugu

Takamatsu Toshitsugu,(Formally Hisatsugu) was born on March 1, 1888 in Akashi, Hyogo province Japan. Takamatsu was an amazing martial artist, and was the one who first became Headmaster of the 9 Ryu-ha (traditions) that now make up the Bujinkan. He spent his life perfecting his martial skills. He tested his skills in real life confrontations across Japan and China. He was the last family member to study the Ninpo traditions of Gyokushin Ryû, Togakure Ryû and Kumogakure Ryû, having been taught by his grandfather Toda Shinryuken Masamitsu,

Masaaki Hatsumi

Masaaki (Formally Yoshiaki) Hatsumi was born on December 2, 1931. He is the founder of the Bujinkan Dojo and current Head master of the 9 Ryu-ha. He began his martial art studies under Takamatsu Sensei at the age of 27. He synthesized these 9 classical traditions into an art he now calls Budo Taijutsu. Previous to this studied judo, karate, boxing, and various Koryu Bujutsu.

Toshiro Nagato

Nagato

Toshiro Nagato was born on November 15, 1947 in Akita Prefecture, Japan. Before Studying under Soke Masaaki Hatsumi he was middleweight kickboxing champion of Japan and Judo champion of Akita Prefecture. He also taught Judo in the US.
He is currently ranked Jûdan Fûgyo Happo Biken (15th Dan).

David Dow

David Dow

The Head Instructor and Dojochô is David Dow, Born October 1, 1968 in Michigan USA. David Dow has been studying Budo Taijutsu for 20 yrs, 7 of which were in Japan. After his first year of training in Japan he came back and founded the University of Michigan Ninjutsu club. He was also a bodybuilder having competed in the Mr. Tokyo Class Divisionals. David returns yearly to train in Japan with Hatsumi Sensei and Nagato Sensei. David is also a Blue belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.

Sophia Dow

Sophia is a 2nd Dan in the Bujinkan and has been training for the past 7 years diligently. Sophia also trains in Muay Thai. She is very talented with bladed weapons especially the sword, her dojo nickname is "Blade". Sophia is in charge of our Yoga program.

Danny Peterson
Danny is a Level III Muay Thai Instructor under Ajarn Surachai "Chai" Sirisute, who is the founder of the Thai Boxing Association of the U.S.A. (TBA-USA), the oldest and largest Muay Thai organization in the United States, founded in 1968. Danny started training in the martial arts under Dan Inosanto training in a blend of Kali, Muay Thai, Savate and grappling. Danny wanted to concentrate on one art and establish a good foundation to build upon. He chose Muay thai because of it's power, simplicity and conditioning. He has been training in this art for 7 years. He also has experience in Brazilian Jiu-jitsu, Vale Tudo, CSW, and Arnis Escrima
